For 11 years families grabbed a bowl of popcorn and gathered around the TV to watch the Carol Burnett Show.  It was time to laugh together for a solid hour.  Those were simpler times!  A talented cast of Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vickie Lawrence, and Lyle Wagoner provided something for everyone.  It was a variety show so there were always plenty of talented guests making an appearance to sing or joke along with the cast.  Micheal Jackson made his debut with the Jackson 5 on one of the shows.

Over the years the show gathered 25 Emmy awards, 8 Golden Globes and three Peoples Choice Awards.  In 2007, Time Magazine named it one of the top 100 television shows of all time.  A regular skit called The Family, resulted in a spin-off called Momma's Family starring Vickie Lawrence with occasional guest appearances by Carol Burnett.

Although the show was a variety show, the humor is what is remembered most.  The high energy hijinks made everyone watching feel like they were right there and part of the fun.  It drew the family together and provided water cooler talk for the next day at work.  The show began in 1967 and never lost its' appeal.
